Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs) is a nonprofit corporation established in 1988 by American cable operators to foster innovation through research and development.
Open to system operators globally, CableLabs is best known for developing the DOCSIS standard for cable Internet access, in collaboration with companies like Arris, Broadcom, Cisco, Comcast, Intel, and others. In 2013, it merged with its European counterpart, Cable Europe Labs.
